Regular summertime netting surveys under-sample larger northern pike, muskellunge, and walleye. In early spring 2009 we netted Lake Waconia and netted and electrofished Lake Harriet to better understand what larger-sized fish are in these populations.

Largemouth bass are best sampled in spring and early summer using electrofishing-- running electricity through the water with a specialized boat, typically at night. Fish are temporarily stunned and brought into the boat for counting and measuring, then returned live to the water.
