1. Red and eastern white pine in coniferous forest biome; not enough rainfall elsewhere. Sugar maple in deciduous or coniferous forest biomes; not enough rain in prairie grassland biome. Black cherry in deciduous forest biome; too short of growing season in coniferous forest biome and not enough rain in the other biomes. Eastern cottonwood in all biomes.

2. Deciduous forest biome. Good average rainfall and long growing season.

3. Prairie grassland biome. Not enough moisture to support most trees.
