Rare plant searches in the Bald Eagle Lake area of the BWCAW

MBS botanist/plant ecologist Lynden Gerdes and MBS Northern Coordinator/plant ecologist Lawson Gerdes recently surveyed the Bald Eagle Lake area of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for rare plants and native plant communities. Among the plants they documented were the state threatened species small white water lily (Nymphaea leibergii) and the state special concern Franklin's Phacelia (Phacelia franklinii).
