Rare Plants near Lake Leander, Tamarack Lowlands Subsection

Minnesota Biological Survey plant ecologists Chel Anderson, Rebecca Holmstrom, Jeff Lee, and Ethan Perry recently conducted a search of an area in the Nashwauk Uplands subsection near Leander Lake for a population of Western Jacob's ladder (Polemonium occidentale spp. lacustre) that Anderson had last visited some twenty years prior. Several other rare plants were documented on this trip including the endangered Floating marsh-marigold (Caltha natans), and the threatened Small white water-lily (Nymphaea leibergii).
