Where to go: This is a great time to visit the Brainerd area. Hike the trails at Crow Wing State Park, or bike the Paul Bunyan Trail. Some leaf colors can still be found on County Rd. 77 going through the Pillsbury State Forest, Higway 210 toward Crosby, and the Crosslake area.
What you'll see: Leaf color has peaked in the Brainerd area. Some of the red oaks still have their leaves, but the Brainerd area is a couple of weeks past peak fall colors.
Last updated: October 18, 2012Can’t decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
