Where to go: Start at the picnic area and follow the trails along the river and back into the woods. Climb to the top of the rock outcropping for an open air view.
What you'll see: Pops of color are starting to show up vividly around the rock outcropping. Sunrise and sunset on the river are memorable. Blue and gray jays bound fearlessly near the river and through the interior; listen for their various calls throughout the park.
Also of interest: Franz Jevne is open for camping through the fall. All sites are non-reservable. Please self-register near the park entrance for camping and vehicle permits.Last updated: September 16, 2014
Canít decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 76 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
