Where to go: The Bluffside trail consists of mostly green oaks and maples but there is a beautiful view of the Wisconsin Bluffs which are starting to change to yellows and oranges. Our trails have an array of changing colors including sumacs, maples, aspens, and cottonwoods.
What you'll see: The sumac are transitioning to their Autumn red coloration. The Aspens, Basswoods, and Cottonwoods are in the late stages of change. Oaks and Maples are still hanging onto their green coloration.
Also of interest: The birds are beginning to migrate. There are a few American White Pelicans still on Lake Pepin. Sightings of migrating warblersc hawks and ducks are becoming more frequent. The prairie grasses are are in the late stages and are beautiful in the early morning fog and late evening sunset.
Last updated: October 1, 2013Can’t decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 76 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
