Where to go: Final Report: Fall viewing is the best on the campground/prairie section of the park. From the Hiking Club trail you pass through woods and prairie and can see the trees and grasses that for the most part have changed.
What you'll see: The flowers and grasses are fully mature and have dropped most of their seeds. With cold temperatures upon us, the leaves are dropping fast from the trees. The many oaks in the Park however are still holding on to their leaves and showing off their bronze/rust color.
Also of interest: A wonderful view of Minneopa's prairie and a few miles of the Minnesota River Valley can be seen from the overlook near Seppmann Mill. The Minnesota River Valley Scenic Byway, Highway 68, passes by the park, and is also a lovely tour.
Last updated: October 14, 2012Can’t decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
