Where to go: "Prairie Trail" on the southern edge of the park is booming with flowers. To see these ravishing prairie colors, take the two-mile long hike through the woods. You are certain to be dazzled by the beauty!
What you'll see: While most trees are still plump full of green leaves, some leaves are starting to change color and fall from their branches. The Maples and Basswoods are some of the first that are giving in to the fall season.
Also of interest: The weather has been very nice for hiking, picnicking, and camping!Last updated: August 30, 2015
Canít decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 76 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
