Where to go: The recent storm knocked many of the leaves off the trees, so we are past peak for fall color viewing.
Also of interest: The mine is open for tours the first three weekends in October. The underground mine tours run from 10 am to 4 pm. The physics lab tour is available at noon each day. Ticket prices are $12 for adults (ages 13 and older), $7 for youth (ages 5 to 12) and no charge for children (under age 5). All tickets are sold on a first come first served basis. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit.
