Where to go: When leaves start to turn, head to the Riverside Trail along the beautiful St. Croix River and Lake Alice. This 1.5 mile accessible loop is one of the highlights of the Park!
What you'll see: Color will start to appear and make a fabulous backdrop to Lake Alice. As you walk by the St. Croix River, breathe in the scent of 100 year-old White Pines and watch the river meander south to the Mississippi!
Also of interest: Stiff-leaved Goldenrod is in bloom as is Canada Goldenrod and Cream Gentian. Check out the many prairie grasses that are blowing in the breeze, Big Prairie Bluestem, Little Bluestem, and Indian Grass to name a few. Have fun!Last updated: August 29, 2015
Canít decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 76 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
