Where to go: Fall color enthusiasts will not want to miss Miners Mountain Overlook for views from 200 feet above the surrounding area. The overlook can be accessed by vehicle or bike. There are numerous scenic overlooks along both the paved Cuyuna Lakes State Trail and the mountain bike trail system. Fall color viewing by boat, canoe or kayak is a perfect way to explore the crystal clear mine lakes. Take a swing by the park office to see our brilliant "famous four" sugar maples.

What you'll see: We are starting to see more fall color in the landscape. Cuyuan Country consists of mostly aspen, paper birch, cottonwood, basswood and ironwood so park visitors can expect to mostly see varying shades of yellows and golds.

Special Offer for Park Permits

Can’t decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 76 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
