Where to go: FINAL REPORT: The famous Cuyuna Overlook, or "Miner's Mountain" is the hot spot for fall color viewing here in Cuyuna Country, but the road remains closed to vehicles due to a landslide. The area is accessible by bike or foot travel only. It is worth the climb to see panoramic views from 200 feet above sea level. Spectacular views can be found throughout the mountain bike trails and the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail. Canoe or kayak along our 25 miles of quiet, undeveloped shoreline.
What you'll see: With a majority of the leaves being gone now, the unique and beautiful contours of Cuyuna Country's former mineland landscape can now be seen.
Last updated: October 15, 2012Can’t decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
