This information may be used to help reduce your chances of getting this tick-borne disease by following preventative actions. Such actions include walking in the center of trails to avoid picking up the ticks from grass and brush, wearing light colored clothes so ticks are visible, creating a barrier to ticks by tucking pants into socks or boots and tucking long sleeved shirts into pants, using a tick repellent, and doing a complete body check after being outdoors. An excellent brochure "Lyme Disease" is available from the Dept. of Health at 612-623-5414.
