It's a fact
A stomate is a microscopic pore that controls gas and water vapor exchange with the surrounding air by opening and closing. The average leaf has 4,000 to 100,000 stomates per square centimeter of leaf surface. Yike's! It's no wonder that plants go through a lot of water.
