Leech Lake fish management planning
The purpose of this project is to develop a Leech Lake management plan that addresses walleye stocking, experimental fishing regulations, cormorant management and habitat protection in a manner that includes diverse interests in the resource.
This plan will update and replace the 2005-2010 Leech Lake Action Plan, which was developed in 2004 with input largely from the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, the Leech Lake Fishing Task Force, the Leech Lake Association, the Tri-County Leech Lake Watershed Project, the Walker Area Chamber of Commerce, local resorts and businesses, anglers and numerous other partners.
The planning process also will result in public understanding and support for the final plan, which will incorporate stakeholder values, needs, interests and desires for Leech Lake management.
