Heritage Enhancement and Turkey Stamp Habitat Grants
Information on the 2010 HE and Turkey Stamp Habitat Grants is posted below. Applications for both programs are due February 12, 2010.
Program Purpose:
Heritage Enhancement Grants
To encourage local outdoors clubs to complete wildlife habitat projects on State Wildlife Management Areas or other lands under control of the Section of Wildlife.
Turkey Stamp Habitat Grants
To provide competitive grants to local outdoors clubs for projects that develop, restore and maintain suitable habitat for wild turkeys on public or private lands.
Eligible Projects: "On the ground" manipulation of landscapes to improve existing wildlife habitat or develop new habitat including:
- Forest Opening Management
- Forest Stand Burns
- Forest Stand Improvement
- Hunter Walking Trails
- Openland/Brushland Burns
- Openland/Brushland Management
- Prairie/Grassland Burning
- Prairie/Grassland Management
- Wetland Enhancement
- Wetland Habitat Maintenance
- Wetland Impoundment Development
- Wetland Restoration
- Wetland Water Controls
- Woody Cover Development

Who may apply: State- or nation-wide wildlife habitat conservation organizations that have two or more local or regional chapters, or local, nonprofit outdoor recreation oriented clubs that are unaffiliated with state or national organizations and that list wildlife habitat conservation as a primary focus of their organization's by-laws.
Level of Assistance: Up to 100% of total eligible costs on a services rendered basis.
General Information: Grant payment is made on a services rendered basis, with no matching funds required. Applications must be received by February 12, 2010. All work must be completed by June 30, 2012.
