Mower County Natural and Scenic Area

Description:

The Mower County Natural and Scenic Area is 36 acres dominated by native prairie plant species and wetland communities along the Upper Iowa River. The Blanding's Turtle, a Threatened Species, is present in the watershed and Rattlesnake Master, a MN species of Special Concern, is present on the site. The area is adjacent to Shooting Star Wildflower and Historic Route (state scenic byway) and Shooting Star State Trail and near the Shooting Star Prairie State Scientific and Natural Area. One Natural and Scenic Area grant was awarded to Mower County to help acquire the property.

Location:

The Mower County Natural and Scenic Area is located off of Hwy 56 at County Road 8. The property is between the highway and Shooting Star State Trail.
