Landowner application requirements
This administrative rule lists the requirements to apply as a landowner. As noted in the rule, individuals who apply as a landowner but do not meet the criteria will be rejected.
New for 2013- All hunters will be asked to select a season in which to hunt. Landowners will apply for a season and will be selected according to the general drawing procedure listed in 2013 administrative rule.
6232.4500 ELK LICENSE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Subpart 1. General provisions. The provisions in this part apply to the elk license application process.
A. If the number of applications for any zone and season exceeds the quota, a random selection will be conducted to determine the successful applicants.
B. One landowner license is available for each of the Kittson County Central four seasons. Landowner licenses are not available in the Kittson County Northeast season. The following persons are eligible for this separate drawing:
a. owners of at least 160 acres of agricultural or grazing land, within the zone applied for;
b. tenants living on at least 160 acres of agricultural or grazing land, within the zone applied for; or
c. family members of qualifying landowners and tenants, if they live on the qualifying property and are part of the farming operation. Family members include those related by blood, marriage, or adoption.
Applicants unsuccessful in the landowner and tenant drawing will be included in the selection process for the remaining licenses in the same zone. Landowner and tenant party applications that include individuals who do not meet the requirements for this license will be removed from the landowner and tenant drawing and will not be entered into the general drawing.
