Land Exchange, St. Louis County

Environmental Assessment (EA)

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR) proposes to exchange four state-owned parcels of land consisting of approximately 122 acres for seven private-owned parcels of land consisting of approximately 198 acres. All parcels are located in St. Louis County within eight miles of Floodwood, MN.

The purpose of this land exchange is to consolidate ownerships with the potential to improve recreational and management efficiencies of public conservation lands along the St. Louis River Corridor.

Lands and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) assistance was used to acquire the state lands located along the St. Louis River. Pursuant to Section 6(f)(3) of the LWCF Act, lands acquired for public outdoor recreation shall not be wholly or partly converted to other than public outdoor recreation uses without the approval of the National Park Service (NPS).
