General Repair Worker

Description

This position performs semi-skilled tasks in a variety of trade areas both indoors and outdoors. The tasks include making minor adjustments and repairs to machinery, buildings and equipment.

1. Makes minor repairs and adjustments to plumbing, steam & water lines, electrical wiring under 24 volts, furniture, shelves, doors, windows, lawn mowers, water pumps, garden tractors, snow blowers, etc.
2. Operate and maintain trucks, tractors, ground and road maintenance equipment.
3. Perform masonry work including repair of plaster walls.
4. Assists building foreman or carpenter on building construction.
5. Load and unload trucks.
6. Perform minor custodial duties such as building sanitation, grass mowing and snow shoveling.
7. Perform maintenance and service to include firing, repairing and maintaining high and low-pressure boilers.
8. Repair and/or fabricate surplus equipment.
Inspect, service and make repairs to equipment and tools.
9. Instruct and/or direct other workers.
10.Maintain workstation in orderly and safe condition.
11.Replace or repair locks.

Required Qualifications

1. Ability to exercise sound judgement, establish priorities and make appropriate decisions.
2. Basic knowledge of occupational hazards, safety requirements and the types of personal protective equipment appropriate to carry out tasks.
3. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
4. Experience performing semi-skilled work in one or more trade areas.
5. Ability to oeprate various equipment.

Desired Qualifications

Physical Requirements

Medium Work - occasionally lifting articles such as 50 pound bags of feed maximum and frequently lifting and/or carrying objects such as heavy tools and file boxes. This job may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain or may involve sitting most of the time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.

License Requirements

CLASS C Driver's License - Any single unit vehicle with a GVW of 26,000 pounds or less that is placarded for hazardous materials or A School Bus designed to transport 15 passengers or less, including the driver.

Grants Specialist

Description

Grants Specialists provide professional level support in implementing the following core activities in support of administering a grants program.

Grant Solicitation: Solicit grant applications from grantees by: writing narrative portions of grant materials; developing informational materials; consulting with staff to determine stakeholders; conducting training sessions; and providing technical assistance to grantees.

Grant Evaluation: Conduct grant evaluation by: initially reviewing grant proposals for fiscal and program compliance; organizing grant documentation for review team; participate on the final review team to rank and make final funding recommendations; and preparing supporting grant documentation.

Grant Monitoring: Monitor grantee performance by: conducting program compliance evaluations; conducting financial audits; identifying and resolving discrepancies, concerns, or violations; conducting technical assistance; and writing progress reports.

Grant Administration: Administer grants by: directing preparation and execution of legal documents; approving disbursement of grant monies; closing out grants; and updating paper and electronic records.

Required Qualifications

Must pass a written exam covering the following content areas: reading comprehension; grammar, usage, and diction; sentence structure and effective expression. Writing skills sufficient to develop grant proposals, progress reports, correspondence, etc. Ability to read, interpret, and apply federal and state laws and departmental fiscal policies. Computer literacy, including knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field. Knowledge of subject area sufficient to conduct technical program evaluations.

Physical Requirements

Light Work - occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.

Graphic Arts Specialist

Description

This position designs and illustrates a variety of publications; integrates photography into layouts; anticipates project scope, direction and demands; organizes and interprets projects to incorporate timely, cost-effective production and printing methods; designs projects including layout, typesetting, key lining, illustrating, coordinating color schemes, determining reproduction and printing methods; designs materials for pamphlets, bulletins, posters, exhibits, and informational materials; makes use of computer to produce designs, illustrations, and key lines; provides layout and/or rough; designs, illustrates and produces camera-ready material.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of graphic arts techniques and processes.
Knowledge of principles and techniques of pictorial drawing.
Knowledge of tools and materials used in illustrative drawing.
Understand written and oral directions.

Desired Qualifications

Drawing with pen and ink.
Ability to create original art work.
Use of photographic equipment.
Use of desktop publishing and computer-aided technology.

Physical Requirements

Very Light Work - occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
