The brook trout in Crosscut Lake were stocked annually as yearlings. The brook trout numbers have fluctuated widely based on results of the previous investigations. The 2008 sample contained only yearlings from the spring stocking, which measured from 9 inches to 13 inches with the largest 13.2 inches. The brook trout are usually stocked in May so the remainder of the open-water season should provide good trout fishing each year. Winter angling could become difficult as dissolved oxygen levels drop later in the season.
