Because the tests are lengthy and there is a shortage of USDA-certified laboratories, the DNR will not be able to test deer for hunters, except in targeted sampling areas (shown on map below). However, DNR staff continue to explore the possibility of laboratories for hunters who want to pay for their own testing.
