Canada Lynx (Lynx canadensis)

As of March 2000, the Canada Lynx (Lynx canadensis) is listed as a federally threatened species (per the Endangered Species Act). This is the only lynx species in North America. Numbers of lynx in Minnesota likely fluctuate with Canadian populations and with the abundance of their primary prey, the snowshoe hare.
