Buy your license and buy it early! If you don't, you'll be standing in line.
Plan accordingly. Purchasing a license online or by phone means that you must wait up to five to ten business days for your deer tag to arrive via regular U.S. mail. You are required to have that tag in the field, validate it and attach it to any deer you transport.
Minnesota residents mut furnish a current driver's license number, public safety identification number or DNR firearms safety training number as proof of residency. Minnesota residents who do not have one of these identification numbers must obtain one before purchasing a hunting, fishing or other license.
Know the season and deer permit area in which you want to hunt.
If you haven't purchased a Minnesota DNR license since 2000 and are Minnesota resident 21 or older, you'll need to purchase a license in person at a license agent. You also can call 888.646.6367 and ask that a customer record be created so you can purchase a license online or by phone.
