Track:
The Minnesota firearms deer hunting season begins Saturday morning. There are about 500-thousand licensed hunters in the state. And it should be another good year for hunters according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Big Game Program coordinator Lou Cornicelli (CORN-A-SELL-EE).
RadioBite #146 LOU CORNICELLI – DNR BIG GAME PROGRAM COORDINATOR
“In Minnesota deer harvest is really based on three things, how many deer we allow an individual to take, what percentage of the corn has been harvested and weather…it looks like most of the corn is going to be down and the weather is not going to be too bad so we should have a pretty good opening weekend and opening weekend really drives what we harvest throughout the rest of the year.”

Cornicelli said he expects this year’s harvest to be around 200-thousand deer, which is about the same number of deer taken a year ago.
