Site features- Bridges, paths, and trails

These features are essential for guiding your students safely and comfortably though your School Forest. If you're creating new trails or improving old ones, think about how to best steer trail users toward special locations and features in your forest. Think about who will be using the trails (first graders, high school students, people with physical disabilities, elderly, etc.) This may influence the type of materials, trail length, or other features. Consider materials such as packed soil, mulch, gravel, or asphalt. Slopes, grading, and erosion concerns should also be considered. Your forester can advise you. Just ask!
