Geocaching Call of the Wildflowers

Geocaching - Call of the wildflowers

Find Minnesota State Parks and Trails on Facebook  #geowildflower

Explore Minnesota state parks and trails on this geocaching adventure and learn about Minnesota wildflowers and pollinators along the way! You'll use a GPS unit to pursue hidden caches in 74 state parks and seven state trails. The hunt begins April 22, 2015 and ends October 31, 2017.

New! As part of our 125th anniversary in 2016, we've launched a pair of geocaching travel bugs.

The Challenges

Collect the Wildflower Cards

Each state park or trail cache contains a collectible wildflower card, with a beautiful photo on the front and fun wildflower facts on the back. A different bloom is featured at each location – see if you can collect all 81!

Earn the Pollinator Cards

You can earn rewards on your way toward collecting all 81 wildflower cards. After you've found 10, 20, 40, 60 and 81 caches, bring your wildflower cards into any geocaching checkpoint. Present them to state park staff and they will give you a pollinator card. Pollinator cards feature some of the many insects that pollinate Minnesota's wildflowers.

Attend an Interpretive Program

Attend a Minnesota State Parks and Trails interpretive program on wildflowers, pollinators or geocaching, and receive a limited edition wildflower card. A new card will be featured each year. Find qualifying programs.

Join the Finishers' Gallery!

After you've finished the program and found all the caches, take a picture of yourself with the final "81 caches" pollinator card. Feel free to include family, friends, pets or anyone else that helped you complete the Call of the Wildflowers. Caption and upload your photograph on the Call of the Wildflowers Finishers page and we'll add your picture to the  gallery. (It can take a few days to do this, so please be patient.)
