Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center

For more than 100 years, visitors have come to Itasca State Park to walk across the Mississippi River and hike under the towering pines – landmarks of this grand park. The 13,000 square-foot Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center is where you can gather and discover all there is to see and do in the park before you begin your adventure outdoors. Open year-round.

Historic Site

Many

Itasca State Park itself is designated as a National Register Historic District. There are many historic sites within the park.

Tours

Interpretive Programs and Excursion Boat Tours

Special tours can be arranged by contacting the park naturalist. "Step on" naturalist available for bus tours by special arrangement. There is a fee involved for this tour.

Gift Shop

Nature Stores are located at the Mary Gibbs Mississippi Headwaters Center, Forest Inn, and the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center. Headwaters shop open early May through mid-October. Forest Inn is open Memorial Weekend through early October. Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center is open year-round.

Boat, motor, pontoon, paddleboat, kayak, canoe and bike rental located at the Lake Itasca boat access (Itasca SportsThis link leads to an external site.). Snowshoes can be rented at the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center.

Available at campground registration office during the peak season. In the off season, wood is available at park headquarters.

Restaurant

Douglas Lodge/Mary Gibbs Mississippi Headwaters Center

New: The Douglas Lodge Restaurant is a full-service restaurant located at the Douglas Lodge, open from Memorial Weekend until the first Sunday in October. The Headwaters Café is a cafeteria-style restaurant located in the Mary Gibbs Mississippi Headwaters Center, which is open from Memorial Weekend until October 10.
