Design and Development

With the master planning process complete, DNR will now begin pre-design and development work at Lake Vermilion State Park—and its companion, Soudan Underground Mine State Park. The master plan describes the basic management and development direction for the parks. The DNR will assemble project teams to implement the park development and operational priorities identified in the plan. Watch this site for more information in the future.

Cooperative Park Master Plan: Lake Vermilion and Soudan Underground Mine

Minnesota Statutes (86A.09) require that DNR write a master plan before new facilities and development commence. The Cooperative Master Plan for Lake Vermilion and Soudan Underground Mine State Parks was signed by the Commissioner's Office on Dec 30, 2010. The plan provides guidance on the development and administration of the parks.
