Seasonal Update

Water: Water spigots are on for the season.

Drinking Water: Water is available year-around at the park office.

Bathroom Facilities: The campground bathroom building is open for the season. Vault toilets in the park are available year-round.

Showers: The shower building is open.

Dump Station: Dump station is open.

Campgrounds: The campgrounds are open late spring through late fall. See Visitor Alert on home page for updated information. Self-registration is available when the office is closed.

Electric Sites: The park has 21 electric sites. These typically book a year in advance for the peak summer season.

Special Notes for RV Campers: The campground has narrow roads with sharp turns; may not be suitable for some large RVs.

Reservations: Highly recommended during the summer. All sites are first-come, first-served during late fall and spring.

Contact Notes: Early season office hours are 9 am - 9 pm on Fridays & Saturdays and 9 am - 4 pm Sundays - Thursdays. Please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

Trail Notes: McCarthy Beach has 18 miles of hiking trails, 17 miles of mountain bike trails and 12 miles of horse trails. The park has 9 miles of cross-country trails and 12 miles of groomed snowmobile trails available in the winter. The park snowmobile trails connect to the Taconite State Trail and the Tim Corey trail. Non-heated trail shelters are available. Snowshoeing is permitted anywhere in the park except on groomed ski trails.

Season Rentals: The park rents canoes, kayaks, and row boats for $10/4 hrs or $20/day. A paddle boat is available to rent for $5 per hour with a $10 minimum. Rental season is Memorial Day to Labor Day. The picnic shelter in the park can be rented for $35/day. Call the park to reserve. No winter rentals at this park.
