Self Guided

1 mile Touch the Earth Trail and 1.5 mile Landmark Trail

The one mile long Touch the Earth nature trail is a self-guided trail and boardwalk that takes you through several different forest types plus a tamarack bog. The 1.5 mile long Landmark Trail offers a picturesque woodland walk along the shore of Ogechie Lake and commemorates Kathio as a National Historic Landmark District.

Hiking

35 Miles

These wooded trails take you to river, lake and beaver pond overlooks and through Kathio's rolling glacial moraines. Many trails are minimum maintenance during summer months.

Boardwalk

Touch the Earth Trail.

The boardwalk is part of the self-guided trail. The trail begins at the Visitor Center.

Horse

27 Miles

The best time to ride Kathio's trails is in the fall in September and October. Fall leaf color is at its peak and bugs are at a minimum. Horse trails are minimum maintenance during summer months. In spring and at times in the summer after a big rainfall, trails are muddy. Trails can be very "buggy" during summer months. Horse trails are closed when covered with snow.

Other

Hiking Club Trail - 3.2 miles

The 3.2-mile Hiking Club trail travels winds past Lake Ogechie and historic site and through some of the park's most scenic back country.



Winter

Cross Country Skiing

19.8 Miles (32 Kilometers)

Ski trails available for beginners to expert skiers. The park has 10.9 K of easy trail, 12.4 K of moderate trails and 8.7 K of difficult trails. All trails go through wooded terrain. Ski rental is available in the park.

Snowmobile

19 Miles

The trails go through wooded hills and connect with the 13,000 mile Grant-In-Aid statewide snowmobile trail system at various locations.

Snowshoe

6.5 Miles

Three trails are marked for snowshoers. These trails take you to some great scenic areas. In addition to these trails, snowshoers can explore any area of the park but are asked to stay off groomed ski trails. Showshoe rental is available in the park.
