Are you looking for fresh, new ideas to help teach your students about Minnesota's geology, history, and natural environment? If so, you'll want to check out the Minnesota State Parks and Trails Explorer series: History Explorer and Nature Explorer. The books were created by a team of park interpreters, scientists and educators.
The History Explorer contains fun activities and great information on Minnesota's history as told by our well intentioned, but misguided voyageur, Pierre LeTierre.
The Nature Explorer contains fun activities on Minnesota's animals, plants, and habitats.
Here's how the Explorer series works: children earn points for completing activities from each booklet and for participating in naturalist presentations held at state parks. Many activities can be completed at home and at school as well as at state parks. When they've completed their work, children receive their official Explorer's patch and certificate.
