This park is situated on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Perhaps best known for its historic lighthouse, this park offers numerous recreational opportunities. Visitors can cart-in their supplies to pristine campsites along Lake Superior. Scenic trails along the lake link up to the spectacular Superior Hiking Trail. Anglers cast their lines for lake trout, salmon, and brown trout. The rocky beach is perfect for skipping stones into Lake Superior.

Fat tire bike trails
This is the 3rd winter season where over 8 miles of trail are open to fat tire biking at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park (groomed as soon as snow is heavy enough for our equipment). You can find a winter trail map at the 'Maps' link on this page and more info about fat bike trails. Also, we will post snow updates on the DNR Snow Report website (even though we have no ski or snowmobile trails).
The Superior Hiking Trail will be detoured along the Gitchi-Gami State Trail between the Visitor Center at Gooseberry Falls State Park and the Split Rock River Wayside. ALSO, the bridge is out on the Split Rock River loop trail. Check current trail conditions online or call the park office.
