Seasonal Update

Water: The shower building and dump station are closed for the season.

Drinking Water: Water is available year-round at hand pumps in the park.

Bathroom Facilities: Vault toilets are available year-round in the park.

Showers: The shower building is closed for the season.

Dump Station: Dump station is closed for the season.


Campgrounds: Campgrounds are closed for the season. They will open again March 30, 2018.

Electric Sites: No electric sites exist at Zippel Bay State Park.

Special Notes for RV Campers: Due to small sites and lack of turn-arounds, large 5th Wheels and RVs are advised not to travel past Ridge Campground.

Fall & Winter: For park information, please call Big Bog State Recreation Area at 218-647-8592.

Spring & Summer:The office will be staffed most weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day.


Trail Notes: In winter, the park has 7 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails. In summer, the park has 9 miles of hiking trail. All hiking and mountain bike trails in the park are open for use during the regular summer season.

Season Rentals: Canoe rentals are available during the summer. Ask about the self-guided canoe tour around the bay!
