Includes the Mississippi River and adjacent floodplain forest and uplands extending for 38 river miles from Minneapolis to Hastings. Situated along the migratory corridor for 40% of North America's waterfowl and shorebirds. Migratory waterbirds including loons, cormorants, gulls, terns, herons, egrets, pelicans, coots, grebes, and others can be found. A mixed species heron rookery, eight bald eagle breeding territories and 6 - 8 pairs of peregrine falcons are known to occur within this IBA.
