Each of the three coverages described in this document represent the same hydrogeologic feature - buried sand and gravel channels - in a different elevation range as indicated by the number following the 'bsgch.'

bsgch1ne represents features at an elevation of 950 to 1000 feet above sea level.
bsgch2ne represents features at an elevation of 920 to 975 feet above sea level.
bsgch3ne represents features at an elevation of 750 to 920 feet above sea level.

For each of the these layers, a 1:126,720 manuscript showing Minnesota Geological Survey County Well Index (CWI) locations with well depth values, together with river and lake features, was plotted on paper.

Based on stratigraphy data from CWI, Jim Berg interpolated the boundaries of the channels, and drew them on the plots.

The boundaries were digitized in ARCEDIT, lines were added to 'close' the open ended channels, and each layer was built as a polygon coverage.

Source Scale Denominator 126,720 - One inch represents two miles.
