Blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium and V. myrtilloides)

Low, branching perennial shrubs up to 20" tall, usually forming large patches. White to pale pink flowers appear in May or early June. Leaves narrow, oval and alternate on branches. Leaves of lowbush blueberry are toothed on the margins; velvet-leaved blueberry has soft hairs on both sides of leaf. Berries appear in July and August.
