Heart-leaved alexanders (Zizia aptera)
Up to 3 feet tall. Tiny yellow flowers in slightly domed clusters. Alternate, compound leaves, with lower leaflets further divided into segments. (Basal leaves of Heart-leaved Alexanders are simple and heart-shaped.) Bloom in June. Wet to dry-mesic prairies. Named after German botanist Johann Ziz.
