Minnesota has at least a dozen species of native goldenrods, blooming late summer to fall. Highly visible, they are tall plants, growing in open, wet or dry sites. All have plumes or tufts of small yellow flowers, either at the top or on the leafy stem. The common belief that their pollen causes hay fever is false.
