Member of the Aster Family with alternate leaves divided into narrow lobes. Flowering heads with bright yellow ray flowers that are usually reflexed and an elongate, columnar disk 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches high with small brown flowers. About 1 to 2 feet tall. Dry prairies. Blooms June-September. Also known as Mexican hat.
