Ritter WMA
County: Stearns Directions: 4 miles NE of Melrose within Section 13, T126N, R33W Description: This 103 acre WMA is typical of northern Stearns County with steeply rolling terrain and a mixture of sedge/cattail dominated wetlands, oak hardwood stands, and restored prairie. Future management objectives include periodic prescribed burning. Good opportunities exist for hunting, trapping, wildlife viewing, and hiking. As with many WMAs, more remote areas of this unit are visited by people less and offer solitude and discovery for those willing to explore. This area has outstanding diverse habitat features from a spring fed fen to an old growth bur oak hardwood stand. This is a great place to take children and explore all the different landscape features and wildlife. Bring binoculars. |

At this scale, these WMA boundaries are general, and do not accurately represent the actual legal boundaries. WMA users still need to verify public lands boundaries by observing boundary signs and contacting local DNR Wildlife offices. |
