Bemidji area CWD sampling stations

With test results confirming the first suspected case of chronic wasting disease in the Bemidji area, hunters who harvest deer in deer permit areas 184 and the western portions 110, 169 and 197 are encouraged to have their deer can be tested for CWD.

The adult male was harvested opening weekend of the firearms season about ten miles south of Bemidji in deer permit area 184.

Hunters can have their deer tested through Dec. 31 at the Bemidji Area Wildlife Office, 2114 Bemidji Ave N, Bemidji, MN 56601.

The DNR will take additional management actions per the department's CWD response plan, which may include late special season hunting and targeted culling.

So far this fall, more than 1,200 deer have been sampled in that area and test results for approximately 700 deer have been received with only this single deer testing positive.
