Course: BEHAVE: BEHAVE - Fire Prediction Software

Course Description: This course instructs students how to use and apply the basic funtions of the PC-Based program, BehavePlus. BehavePlus is a collection of models that describe fire behavior, fire effects and the fire environment. BehavePlus can be used for any application that involves modeling fire behavior and effects including the prediction of behavior of on-going fire, prescribed fire planning and fuel hazard assessment.

Target Audience: Prescribed fire planners, fire management specialists and those needing technical background for RX-341 Prescribed Fire Plan Preparation or S-490 Advanced Wildland Fire Behavior Calculations.

Course Prerequisites: Candidates must have completed S-290 (Intermediate Fire Behavior) and it is recommended that they have completed S-390 (Fire Behavior Calculations).

Students should plan to bring a laptop or personal computer with BEHAVE PLUS loaded on to it. BEHAVE PLUS may be downloaded at no cost from http://www.firemodels.org. Students should also bring a power strip and extension cord.
