Huntersville West
GIA OHM Trail Proposal

The DNR invites public review and written comment on a proposal by Huntersville Township in Wadena County to obtain state Grant-in-Aid (GIA) funding to maintain and operate a 45-mile Off-Highway Motorcycle (OHM) trail in the Huntersville State Forest.

Two small segments of new trail—approximately one mile total—will also be developed as part of the proposal. The existing trail was designated for OHM use by Commissioner's Order in 2007. The new trail segments include 0.3 miles on state and private land, and 0.73 miles in county road right-of-way. Bringing the trail into the GIA program will provide additional funding for trail maintenance, repair, safety improvements, monitoring, and enforcement.

The trail will be developed and maintained by the Twin City Trail Riders OHM Club, under agreement with Huntersville Township. The trail will connect to the existing Huntersville East OHM trail that the Twin City Trail Riders Club currently maintains through the GIA program.
