Program Information: Site Features- School gardens

Schoolyard gardens can be a great way to connect students with real-world experiences on food production, nutrition, plant growth, and more. You may need to recruit teacher, student, parent, or community members to weed, water, and harvest. If your site has summers off you'll need to recruit volunteers throughout the summer. Before you begin, check with your maintenance staff. Select a location with appropriate sunlight and near a water source (rain barrel, hose, spigot, etc.). Also consider the accessibility of the site for all students.

Humboldt School Forest, St.Paul, features raised garden beds.
