Lineage | This is a polygon file showing the sensitivity to pollution of the uppermost bedrock aquifers. The Quaternary sediment information is from the Wabasha CGA C14 Part A shapefile sgnt.shp (surficial geology polygons MGS Part A.). Sgnt.shp was joined in a union operation with the Wabasha CGA C14 Part A shapefile dtnt.shp (depth to bedrock), which indicates drift thickness. The data were segregated into areas with less than 50 feet depth to bedrock and greater than 50 feet depth to bedrock. Areas with less than 50 feet depth to bedrock were segregated based on the surficial geology polygons into areas with little or no cover, outwash or colluvium, alluvium, and thin till (5 to 50 feet thick). The sensitivity ratings are Very High for no cover, Very High for outwash or colluvium, High for alluvium, and High for thin till. Areas of any sediment type with greater than 50 feet of sediment over bedrock are considered to have Moderate sensitivity. Sensitivity interpretation was based on overlapping estimated time of travel ranges as follows: Red - - Very High - - Hours to months Orange - - High - - Weeks to years Yellow - - Moderate - - Years to decades Light green - - Low - - Decades to a century Dark green - - Very Low - - A century or more |
