Lineage | This file contains all the well information used to construct all the geologic and hydrogeologic maps in the project. The file consists of located and unlocated wells selected from the County Well Index (CWI) database of well records and related data maintained by the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Geological Survey. In addition, well logs from the US Geological Survey were obtained and entered into the data file by Jim Berg . UTM coordinates for the USGS data were derived from the PLS information on the logs. The PLS location information were converted to UTM with a custom DNR extension 'PLS to UTM' in Arcview 3.3. Most of this PLS information contained only three section subdivisions so the well locations are only accurate to 142 meters. |

Section 5 | Entity and Attribute Information - - - - - - top |
Entity and Attribute Overview | |
Entity and Attribute Detailed Citation | indexpt.dbf | | | | ELEVATION | Elevation at the surface in feet above mean sea level | | DEPTH_COMP | Depth completed in feet | | UTME | NAD 83 UTM Easting, extended zone 15 | | UTMN | NAD 83 UTM Northing, extended zone 15 | | DATASET | CWILOC - source is from the County Well Index and location verified. CWIUN - source is from the County Well Index and location unverified. USGS - source is from US Geological Survey well log. STRAT - source is from Minnesota Geological Survey core sample data file (to determine stratigraphy). | | UNIQUE_NO | Two 0's followed by 6 digit unique number for wells, or the Lake id from DNR Lakes Database + 2 digits for a site at a lake (01,02, etc.), or a 2-digit county number followed by 'A' followed by a 7-digit unique number for a spring | | AQUIFER_Q | Aquifer code. The aquifers are identified as either "surficial", "LG", "OT", "CW", "aquifer 1", "western aquifer", or "old". | | CONTROL | Control point for generation of the aquifer maps. This string includes any combination of the following single character aquifer codes. A value indicates that a given record was used as a control for the corresponding aquifer(s). "S" = surficial aquifer "L" = LG "O" = OT "C" = CW "1" = aquifer 1 "W" = western aquifer | | MEASUREMT | Static water level depth from surface in feet. | | MEAS_ELEV | Elevation in feet above sea level of the static water level (should be ELEVATION - MEASUREMT). |
