Call of the Woods
This regional park rewards patient observation with sublime scenery.
Dominique Braud has been visiting Whitetail Woods Regional Park since its opening in 2014. The 456-acre park, which is southeast of the Twin Cities metropolitan area in Dakota County, is a favorite nature escape for the photographer and a highlight of his work. Even though he has been visiting the park nearly daily for more than a decade, he says that it has never gotten boring. Every day he encounters different animals and other natural life, and he especially enjoys watching changes throughout the seasons. Through this “patient observation,” he says, “I have reinforced my personal emotional connection with the natural world.” Here is a selection of the images he’s created at this memorable place.
