The campground is along Pillsbury Forest Road. The campsites are considered "primitive," designed to furnish only the basic needs of the camper. The campsites consist of a cleared area, fire ring, and table. Vault toilets, garbage cans, and drinking water are available. Also available are permanent "picket lines" and manure bunkers. All sites are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Highlights:The day use area provides access to 27 miles of trails and a parking area for horse trailers.

Visitor Alert:

The Rock Lake Campground and Walter Stark Horse Camp in the Pillsbury State Forest are now open for camping. Campers should be aware that several campsites at Rock Lake are closed until more work can be completed on those sites. Most of the trails in the Pillsbury State Forest require more work before they are completely open. The Walking Stick, Lost Lake and Oak Ridge minimum maintenance roads are open, as well as the other roads running through the Pillsbury State Forest.
