No fishing license required June 2-8
Anglers may fish without a license from Tuesday, June 2, through Monday, June 8, during a pause in the DNR's license issuing system. All other fishing season regulations and bag limits will remain in effect.
The pause is part of the DNR's switch to a new electronic licensing system. Find out more on the DNR's ELS information page.
Fishing licenses are effective from March 1 to the last day of February of the following year. A fishing license for the current 2026-27 license year is effective until Feb. 28, 2027
The purchase price of every fishing license goes into the Game and Fish Fund, a dedicated account that can only be used for fish, wildlife, law enforcement and certain other outdoor-related activities.
